Russell of Philadelphia, 49mm, heavy 18K gold OF recase with well executed modifications for use with this mvt, case with repoussé scene to rear of an angel at center holding a flag, with man and seated woman alongside and eagle flying above, ship in background at left, deep shell engravings to band, rear and bezel edges, pendant, bow, and crown, bearing Chester hallmarks which are indistinct with wear, gold cuvette with plugging of previous keyhole, multicolor gilt dial, fancy blue Louis XV style hands, SW-SS, lever escapement, 16-17J, nickel damascene, s#93523. CONDITION:
Mvt: Running after a sluggish start, winds stiffly, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, some toning of plate surfaces, some fine to micro-fine scratches, hub of smaller winding wheel with ultra-fine scratch striations possibly from light sanding; nearly flawless dial; nearly mint hands; case shows medium wear, some dings or shallow dents to rear, reduced engraving detail to wear, good deeper engraving detail elsewhere, cuvette with evident plugging of a previous keyhole; tight bow with soldered repair evident at top, crown shows light to medium wear; good glass crystal.
